Message from Our Founder
"In late 1988, as I was passing through Ratnapura, the capital of Sri Lanka's Sabaragamuwa District, renowned for its precious blue sapphires I noticed something by the side of a large tree just beyond the city limits. Dusk was settling in, and something within me urged me to turn back."
Our Journey
At Shelter4Homeless, our journey began with a simple yet profound mission. To provide nutritious meals, a safe environment, comfortable bed and restore dignity through compassionate care and respect. Witnessing the harsh realities of homelessness among Sri Lanka's elderly population. What started as a small initiative driven by compassion has grown into a lifeline for many who once had no place to call home.
Our Foundation
With God's blessings, we founded Shelter4Homeless on April 6, 2016, marking the beginning of our mission to offer a safe haven for homeless elderly individuals. We were deeply honored to have His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith as our guest of honor on this special occasion.
Our Impact
Since our inception, we have welcomed 56 homeless elders as of early 2025, offering them not just shelter, but a true home. A home filled with acceptance, love, and respect. We work closely with the Department of Social Services, which shares our deep commitment to uplifting the most vulnerable among us.
With heartfelt gratitude, We dedicate this work to the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ and pray that it serves as an inspiration for all to do more for the poorest of the poor.
